Let’s talk about social media: What is the ideal one for my business?

There are a large number of social networks today, among the best known, are Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, Tik Tok, and Pinterest … although they are all very powerful as a marketing tool, when it comes to promoting our brand, it is better to focus on one or two, especially when we do not have much experience yet. In this way, we will invest the time and effort necessary for them to become a fundamental part of our advertising and sales strategy.

If we promote our brand on all social media without dedicating the time and attention that each one deserves, our results will not be that positive, there will be little interaction and therefore less engagement, of course, unless it is within our budget to hire a marketing agency that is responsible for doing that work for us. Otherwise, spending time and effort on one or two networks that are ideal for our business will pay off quickly.

But, what is the ideal social platform for my business?

If we are clear about what we want and know our clients, we will undoubtedly know which social platforms we should choose to promote our business. Here I share with you the most common and which are at the top:

  1. Facebook: it’s the most used platform in the world with 2.449 million actives users, according to Hootsuite, 2020. It is the most popular social network to connect people, create communities, and it has a large percentage of young people.

Audiovisual content, news, and information can be exchanged through this platform. It is also perfect for sharing videos and photos. Currently, almost all companies have their fan page to expand their business.

Instagram: According to Hubspot, Instagram has more than 1.000 million active users. it’s also a highly demanded social platform, its users are mostly women and more than half of all users are between 18 and 29 years old. It is an online showcase since it lends itself to the visual and stimulates creativity.

  1. Linkedin: It has more than 660 million members, according to HubSpot. This network is used by about a quarter of the adult population, therefore its users are almost all professionals in higher education. LinkedIn is ideal for offering professional services and making business connections.
  1. Twitter: It is a very popular social platform among communication professionals such as journalists and publicists. Almost three-quarters of users are between 25 and 54 years old.
  1. Pinterest: This one is to share images about fashion, style, trend, beauty, society, hobbies, and entertainment. Everyone can access through a board in which they can comment on photos, they can move it to their own pages, or simply say I like each image. Its highest percentage of users are young women.
  1. Tik Tok is one of the fastest-growing social media platforms in the world which presents an alternative version of online sharing. It allows users to create short videos with music, filters, and some other features. It has 800 million active users worldwide according to Datareportal
  1. YouTube is at the top as a social network for video sharing. It allows its users to upload videos, watch them, and share them. YouTube has grown so much that currently has more than 2,000 million active users (Hootsuite, 2020).

It is important, basic, and fundamental to be clear about what we want to achieve with our social media marketing strategy. Is it increasing the company’s income through social media? Surely it is, but we cannot sell directly on social networks, what we can do is strengthen Branding, open feedback channels that generate engagement, show the human side of the company, and create a good reputation.

We must be aware and updated, dedicate time, and be willing to maintain more direct interaction with the customer through these communication channels. In this way we will generate trust, showing the client that we will be there at all times as a company, supporting them in their needs.
